Mauryn was born on 9th September 1972. She went to Marycliff Primary School for her primary level education and later on proceeded to Coast Girls high school. After her secondary school she joined Kenya Institute of Management to study accounting. Mauryn spent most of her childhood at Tudor Estate and some few years in Shanzu, Mombasa
She started her career working at Yuls a beach Restaurant at the North Coast and later joined Nyali Beach Hotel for some few years. Mauryn also stayed in Arusha where she owned a bridal shop called 'American Bridal' before coming to United States of America.
She attended collegel in Minnesota for her LPN ( Licensed Practical Nurse) certification and graduated with Honors. She was now pursuing a degree in nursing ( BSn). She was also a member of the United Christian Church in Minneapolis
On Tuesday September 13th, 2011 morning, shortly before 2am, Brooklyn Park, Minnesota police were called to an apartment on the 8100 block of Zane Avenue N due to a disturbance. When police arrived, they found Mauryn Masira face down in the bedroom and her husband Prince Moore lying next to her with his legs over her body. She had been stabbed in the face, chest, and back about 63 times. A bent knife lay on the ground nearby. The husband is now being held in jail on suspicion of murder. He has thus far claimed self- defense.
We would just like to reach out to fellow community and friends to help raise funds to give Mauryn a honorable send off back to Kenya where her family is.
Kenyan Community leaders, friends, as well as her church members in Minnesota are currently meeting and a bank account with deposit and wire transfer info should be available on Monday, Please keep checking back.
